Forthcoming Releases

After a mental month of March, things are cooling down a little bit, but there is still plenty here to look forward to.

15/4 - Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Mosquito (Polydor)

It was four years in March since the YYY's last released an album and they finally follow up It's Blitz! with a new outing which is available on vinyl, CD and in a deluxe 2CD package.

22/4 - The Breeders - LSXX (4AD)

The Breeders mark twenty years since the release of Last Splash with a special tour featuring the album's line-up (Kim Deal, Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs and Jim Macpherson) and two special box sets, titled LSXX. The vinyl version contains seven discs whilst the CD package will contain three. The vinyl set will contain the original album, four ten-inch EPs (Safari, Cannonball, Divine Hammer, and Head to Toe), Stockholm Syndrome, a live album recorded in Sweden in 1994, an album of a BBC radio session from July 1993, and the original Last Splash demo recordings from November 1992. This will be packaged in artwork produced by Vaughan Oliver, who was responsible for much of 4AD's ground-breaking artwork. The set also features a 24-page booklet stocked with previously unpublished photographs from the Last Splash sessions, personal pics taken on the road, and reminiscences by the band and pals including Kim Gordon and J Mascis.

29/4 - Mick Harvey - Four (Acts Of Love) (Mute)

The first offering from the former Birthday Party man since his recent depature from the Bad Seeds.

6/5 - Savages - Silence Yourself (Pop Noire)

The one we have been waiting for. The most exciting band in the country finally unleash their first album in early May in both CD and vinyl formats (with the initial pressing in clear vinyl).

13/5 - Primal Scream - More Light (First International)

The tenth studio album from the fascinating band who pleasingly won't stay in the same place for more than ten minutes, so we have no idea what it will sound like. There will be a limited edition double CD containing six bonus tracks.

27/5 - Nikki Sudden - The Boy From Nowhere (Troubadour)

A 6CD box set containing: Singles and Classic Album Tracks 1977-89; Singles and Classic Album Tracks 1991-2005; Old, New, Lonesome & Blue; Beau Geste, Lost Souls & Bedroom Concertos; The Dark Ends & The Dives - Unreleased Full Band Radio Session; and Across The Airwaves - Unreleased Radio Sessions. The set has been three years in the making and includes liner notes by Mojo writer Max Decharne and John Barry with exclusive interviews and unseen photos throughout the 32-page booklet, and a facsimile of the fanzine What A Nice Way To Turn Seventeen. The first 100 copies will also contain a copy of a live acoustic session album called Still Full Of Shocks, which will only be pressed in one batch of 200, the remaining hundred being sold separately later in the year.

10/6 - The Flatmates - Potpourri: Hits, Mixes & Demos (ON)

Optic Nerve will be releasing a vinyl version of the last year's 22-track offering from Cherry Red in a limited edition of 500 in coloured vinyl with a gatefold sleeve.

6/8 - Medicine - To The Happy Few (Captured Tracks)

Great news. The original members of US shoegaze pioneers Medicine have reunited for their first album in eighteen years. To the Happy Few is out in August via the fine American label Captured Tracks who recently issued revamped packages of the band's earlier work.
